What is a ‘Naming Ceremony’ or a ‘Welcoming Ceremony’?
Your naming ceremony can be traditional, contemporary, formal, informal, serious, fun or as quirky as you like...
This is your day - have it your way...
A 'Naming Ceremony' is a beautiful way to celebrate the birth of a new baby - if you have decided against a religious service. It is a unique celebration of family and life. The day can include whatever is significant to you as a family. It will include officially naming your baby or children and wonderful declarations of promises and commitments from significant members of your family and friends.
A 'Welcoming Ceremony' gives you the wonderful opportunity to welcome an adopted child, or step-children into your family and wider community.
It is an opportunity for the whole family to express your hopes, thoughts and wishes for the future.
Whether it is a Naming or Welcoming Ceremony, both occasions are surrounded with celebration and great joy.
Hi
I'm Angela
I’m a ‘Family Celebrant’ – a compassionate person, who knows what makes people tick. I have a calm and reassuring approach to people of all backgrounds and ages. Whether this is your first, second or third time as a parent – you can have a ceremony that reflects how blessed you are to have this special child. I am strongly empathic and will actively listen to you in order to understand exactly what you would like in your ceremony.
Being a mature lady, with a wealth of real life experience, I have a great sense of fun and I am very determined to give you the most delightful experiences on this special day.
My appearance is stylish and professional, and will reflect the tone of your occasion.
My experience as a primary school teacher has equipped me with the essential skills: being creative; a real love of working with children; having a presence and speaking confidently in public.
Where?
You don't need a licensed venue - as your bespoke ceremony can be held outside in your favourite park, sporting venue, family garden, village hall, manor house, or at your favourite theatre, pub or restaurant.
The content is flexible and can include readings, poems and favourite music that means something special to you all.
It can take the form of - declarations of promises and commitments from chosen family members and friends. Symbolic unity candle or sand ceremonies are particularly wonderful, allowing the whole family to be involved. Everyone can sing along to your favourite songs or listen to classical music - whatever you choose. Traditional or meaningful poems can be read, and your 'new family' stories can be told.
All of this will ensure a ceremony, which is as unique as you are as a family.
Why me?
I am a fun loving and kind hearted woman, who is very family orientated. I have a strong sense of empathy and understanding of what makes people tick - having raised three children into their 30s, and now I'm the proud grandmother to four gorgeous grandchildren. Kids don't scare me!
I will listen carefully to you - to establish:
- How did you choose the name? Is there a special meaning behind the decision?
- What are your hopes and dreams for your baby / adopted child?
- How will your family life be improved by your new addition?
- Are there special friends or family members that you’d like to help guide your child through life? If so - we can involve them in the ceremony! Maybe they’d like to read a poem, play some music, make promises to your child, or get involved in another way...
